AsiaRooms.com - Ayutthaya World Heritage and Red Cross Fair Returns to Thailand
Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park in Thailand will once again be the venue of the annual Ayutthaya World Heritage and Red Cross Fair this December.
AYUTTHAYA, THAILAND, November 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thailand tourists will be able to immerse themselves in local culture when the annual Ayutthaya World Heritage and Red Cross Fair commences on December 13th 2011.
Taking place at Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park, the celebration will run until December 19th and is designed to commemorate the designation of this area as a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site back in 1991.
Visitors will be encouraged to join in with regional customs by receiving blessings from guardian spirits, paying respects at the Chao Sam Phraya National Museum or engaging in colourful leisure activities.
These include folk music performances and song contests, as well as local beauty pageants, while the Red Cross Fair allows tourists to purchase authentic Thai products and craft items.
At the traditional marketplace, visitors can exchange their modern money for replicas of Phot Duang ancient coins, or pay a visit to the floating market or food fair for delicious treats.
Festivities draw to a close each day with Krung Si Ayutthaya: The Great Kings, a light-and-sound show at the Wat Mahathat temple site.
Each of the historic sites at Ayutthaya Historical Park can be accessed for a fee of 60 baht (GBP1).
Culture enthusiasts can choose from a diverse selection of Thailand hotels at AsiaRooms.com, including the Kantary Ayutthaya.
